Gay Rights, Homosexuality and Christians
I know this is going to be one of those things that I write that is going to bring in a lot of “hate” mail on both sides, but it’s the way I see things. Feel free to try to change my mind…. not that you will…but, feel free to try.
The way I see it:
I’m getting tired of all the Gay bashing and Homophobia within Christian circles lately…. especially from those who also are more than willing to look the other way when it comes to premarital sex, adultery and pornography.
Homosexuality is not the unpardonable sin, so why do we as Christians treat it as such? Why are we so willing to forgive the liar, gossiper, fornicator, lewd and the malicious and welcome them into our churches but when it comes to those struggling with a different kind of sin, we act as if they have leprosy.. No strike that…. we are actually much more accepting of those with leprosy.
I Was born this way…
I was born this way…. therefore God made me this way..equals therefore, God must think it’s ok.
Not! We were all born as sinners, some are born selfish, some are born liars, some are born idiots. Just because we were born with a flawed nature, does not mean that flawed nature pleases God.
God has made it clear that to lie with another man as a woman, is not acceptable in his sight, but God has also made it clear that adultery, fornication and lewdness are not acceptable in his sight. It’s clear that we all have come up short. That’s why we need a Savior. Without Jesus, none of us are “good enough”.
Gay Rights
Gays are human and deserve every right that every other human deserves. Period!
To deny rights to a human for sin, would mean that none of us would have rights.
That being said, I do not feel that someone deserves “special” treatment for being “Gay”.
Gays in the Military
There have always been Gays in the Military, just like there have always been Adulterers in the Military and liars and thieves. To be fair … to say no Gays would mean to say “no sinners” which would mean “no one” in our military.
I can not for the life of me see what homosexuality has to do with whether a person is able to serve their Country.
Gay Marriage
It’s high time American Christians wake up and realize that this is not a “Christian” country. We live in a secular society with many belief systems.
Whether you call it a “Civil Ceremony” or a “Marriage”, makes no difference. A marriage recognized by the State is not the same thing as a Marriage recognized by God. There are a lot of people walking around that have a certificate of marriage from their State that are not married in the eyes of God.
Instead of wasting so much time and energy trying to make Babylon into Jerusalem, why not instead put the time and energy into showing the Babylonians who God is and His plan of salvation.
Let God be God, not the State or the Congress. So what, if Homosexuals get a piece of paper that says they are married. So what, if they get the same tax breaks and insurance as anyone else that has that piece of paper. Does that piece of paper change God or His laws?
Gay Teachers
I did not want my son to have a “Gay Person” as his Teacher. I also did not want him to have a Christian Hypocrite, Muslim, Raciest, Liberal or Evolutionist as his Teacher. That’s why I chose Home Schooling. My son’s education is something that I will have to answer to God for, and I did not want to have someone that was contrary to my beliefs have so much influence in his young life.
That was my choice. That does not mean that I don’t think any of the above could ever be great teachers, nor do I believe they should be denied the chance to teach. What I’m saying is that I believe Parents are responsible for their child’s education and should have a right to choose who will be part of that education.
In Summary…. How I think Christians should treat Homosexuality and Gay Rights…
Is it sin? Yes
Is it the unpardonable sin? No
Stop seeing Gays as just Gay and instead see them as people, just like you…that make mistakes, struggle with sin, love their friends and family, care about their country and have feelings like everybody else.
Now that I’ve spoken my mind on this issue and published it, I’m sure I’ll never be able to run for Public Office but I’d rather stick a fork in my eye than suffer through what we put our candidates through in this Country. I’d also rather have my brain sucked out my nose than bow down to the current “Politically Correct” nonsense that berates anyone with an opinion.

AMEN!!!

I decided to voice my opinion before reading the articles, so that it would be an honest portrayal of my thoughts on the matter before it was influenced.
It doesn’t matter, but I guess if I have to identify my religion, I would have to say I probably come closest to the views of Jesuits, a Holy Order of the Roman Catholic Church.
I see no way to soften it: I think those who are practicing homosexuals are in grave danger and are risking going to Hell. On the other hand, here on Earth, it is their choice, and as long as nobody is being sexually harassed, it is their business, and I have no right to interfere. If asked for my opinion, I give it, but I am not going to actively interfere any more than I would with someone selling flowers and brightly colored books at O’Hare international Airport.
I have people who I consider to be good friends who are homosexuals; at least, that is what they claim.
I know there are all sorts of arguements both pro and con, but on this one, I think it just comes down to your own personal beliefs. I know I am supposed to be a “Soldier of Christ.” That is what we reaffirm during the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation. I figure that for this subject, a quiet and reasonable discussion with the concerned individual is what my job is. If they ask me, and many have, I quietly try to explain why I think it is a mortal sin.
What arguements do I use? I mean, its not right there in the Ten Commandments; at least not directly. But early on in the Bible, we are exhorted to “go forth and procreate/multiply.” Then there are the marriage vows themselves. People can argue that the “traditional” vows are not set in concrete anywhere, but I just cannot get around the roles in a marriage, if both are of the same sex. Third, I believe that having children is part of a marriage. I am on weak ground here, because there is always adoption, and I happen to be a proponent of adoption by good Christians, so a gay couple adopting can easily be portrayed as very Christian. Personally, I am a failure here, on this subject, sadly.
I do not have a single strong arguement to use, to be honest. But I do know you are risking your very soul by practicing homosexuality. So all I tell my friends is this, “I pray you are 100% certain that the lifestyle you have chosen does not damn you, and I hope you will pray that I am foregiven all my sins as well.”
To be honest, I am more concerned that their children, and many female homosexuals do have children, are getting a good, Christian upbringing, including Sunday School, Church, and the like, than I am about the homosexuality.
So, I will pray for all homosexuals, not out of pity or anything like that, but because they are human beings with souls, and I am absolutely positive that Jesus Christ wants me to pray for my fellow man, even my enemies, and I see no enemies involved in this subject!
Prayer is the most powerful weapon a Soldier of Christ wields. I have seen more than enough true miracles in my life to convince me of that fact. He definitely cares about every single one of us, and that is the biggest miracle of all! Fe Mon Allah! (Go With God!)
